Hari-hari Goo Goo Dolls

Beberapa hari lalu (dah lama juga) iseng-iseng dengerin lagu Iris nya Goo Goo Dolls. Lagunya emang enak, banyak yang tau pastinya, tapi yang bikin penasaran bukan itu. Lagu ini punya sesuatu yang beda, terutama musiknya. Liriknya sdikit puitis tapi mudah dimengerti kok, tapi coba perhatikan musiknya dengan baik. Cuma gitar, plus biola atau cello, ama beat drum, but… suaranya asa-asa beda aja. Trus judulnya juga knapa Iris. Setau awa iris tu bagian mata di skitar pupil yang entahlah awa lupa buat apa, ama satu lagi Dewi pembawa pesan Yunani, kaya Hermes. Tapi napa dikasi judul Iris yah ???

Iseng-iseng aja awa tanya mbah Google, tapi dijawab ma jeng Wiki. Menurut yang bikinnya, John Rzeznik (vokalisnya, namanya susah kali dieja), Iris ni make gitar yang 5 dari 6 stringnya di tune ke D, jadi memberi efek seperti make gitar 12 string (tah apa awa nda ngerti, tapi peduli amat yang penting enjoy). Bener ternyata dugaan saya, cuma gitar, cello ma drum. Mantep dan dahsyat !!! Trus soal judul awa ternyata salah. Menurut Rzeznik, Iris tu diambil dari nama seorang penyanyi dan penulis lagu wanita yang namanya ada di halaman sebuah majalah yang dibolak-balik ama Rzeznik. Nama penyanyi wanita itu adalah Iris DeMent (kirain….). Menurut Rzeznik, nama itu bagus…walah.

Trus, karena penasaran terus, saya coba searching2 soal Goo Goo Dolls. Pengen dengerin juga lagu-lagunya yang lain. Kalo soal profil band ini, saya ga mau cerita ah, cari sendiri ajah, tapi pokoknya saya jadi demen ma band ini. Pas dengerin lagunya yang lain, enak juga, lama-lama malah muter lagunya tiap hari, ampe pas saya nulis artikel ini. Banyak yang saya suka (ga cuma Iris loooh…), beberapa yang jadi favorit saya adalah Let Love In, Become, Accoustic #3 (ada di album soundtrack-nya Dawson’s Creek looh), Without You Here, Stay with You, Can’t Let It Go dan single terakhir mereka yang jadi soundtrack-nya The Transformer, Before It’s Too Late (Sam and Mikaela’s Theme).

Sambil dengerin, saya coba cari-cari liriknya dan pengen saya bagi-bagi ajah. Kali-kali aja ada yang pengen denger sambil nyanyi-nyanyi (asal ga sumbang n ngasal yah, kasihan tetangga sebelah kalo harus ke dokter DHT). Continue reading ‘Hari-hari Goo Goo Dolls’

Tentang Cinta (Soundtrack)

Kali ini saya ingin membahas tentang OSt. Tentang Cinta, yang merupakan sebuah film karya Soni Gaokasak. Soundtrack-nya sendiri merupakan hasil karya 2 musisi Indonesia, yaitu Ipank ‘BIP’ dan Ridho ‘Slank’. Semua lagu dinyanyikan (vokal) oleh Ipank, kecuali Hey yang dibuat 2 versi dengan salah satu versi dinyanyikan berduet dengan Sheila Marcia. Soundtrack ini terdiri atas 11 lagu, yaitu :

Kecuali track Score (instrumental), semua lagu dalam album ini bercerita tentang cinta (aahhh… umum banget yach. Kayanya 90% lagu tu tentang cinta he he he…). Ceritanya juga mudah ditebak dari judulnya. Cinta Baru bercerita tentang seseorang yang telah lama kehilangan cintanya dan terbiasa tanpa cinta, lalu tiba-tiba ia mendapat cinta baru dalam hatinya. Ia mengalah dari keteguhan hatinya atas cinta terdahulu. “Karena cinta datang semaunya, ga perlu pakai rencana. Susah ku menghindarinya”. Cinta Dalam Hati masih menceritakan hal yang sama. Orang tadi menceritakan bagaimana ia jatuh cinta lagi, meski sebelumnya ia tak pernah mengharapkannya. Ia bisa tersenyum kembali dengan perasaan yang menyenangkan di hatinya. “Tapi bisa kurasakan, ada perasaan yang menyenangkan yang mengalir dalam hatiku”.

Hey malah bercerita ke belakang. Lagu ini bercerita bagaimana si orang tersebut merasakan beratnya hidup tanpa orang yang dicintainya berada di sisinya. Ia merasakan penyesalan yang mendalam atas kehilangan cinta. Ia ragu atas hidupnya sendiri. Bertanya apakah ia mampu menjalani hidup tanpa cinta. Berharap ia kan terbiasa dengan semuanya. “Seandainya saja ku bisa katakan, jangan kau tinggalkan. Saat ini ku ragu, bisakah kunikmati semua tanpamu…Selamanya”. Sendiri mungkin masih berhubungan dengan Hey, atau juga berhubungan dengan ‘cinta baru’ yang mungkin hilang (sorry, saya belum nonton pilemnya. Cuma suka soundtracknya). Ceritanya tentang ‘kehilangan cinta’ (lagi???). Sulitnya melupakan cinta (…hmmm… just me…). Mencoba tegar, meskipun deritanya tak tertahankan. “Bisa kuhadapi semua yang sedang terjadi. Terbiasa kuhadapi semuanya sendiri”.

Tentang Cinta, main theme dalam soundtrack ini. Judulnya sama dengan judul pilemnya. Isinya ??? Hmmm… penyesalan dan penyesalan lagi. Penyesalan karena janji yang tak terpenuhi. Berharap masih ada waktu tersisa (I still got 9 years 9 months, dear), dan cinta tersisa. Tapi penyesalan tetaplah penyesalan, takkan merubah apapun.“Mungkinkah masih ada waktu yang tersisa untukku. Mungkinkah masih ada cinta di hatimu”.

Masih ada yang kurang ??? Yup !!! Di album ini juga ada 2 lagu dengan lirik english. English-nya ga susah-susah amat. Gampang dicerna, ga terlalu implisit. Alive menceritakan bagaimana pada awalnya cinta sang tokoh membuatnya merasa ‘hidup’, mengangkatnya dari penderitaan. Tapi lalu cinta itu hilang dan ia hanya bisa membohongi dirinya sendiri bahwa cinta itu masih ada. Belum bisa ia merelakan kepergian sang cinta. Mencoba mengucapkan selamat tinggal pada cintanya yang telah berlalu, tapi kenangannya takkan terhapus. “I can lying to myself. I still need you and won’t let you pass by”. Love So Free sedikit puitis. Meyakinkan bahwa cinta itu bebas, tapi tak sempurna. Sakitnya bisa disembuhkan oleh cinta lain. Cinta itu kebebasan. “Your love so free… And the sun grows old (sun grows old). Your love so free… And the stars grows old (stars grows old). Your love so free…”.

Dari segi lirik, lagu-lagu dalam soundtrack ini tidak jauh dari tema cinta (common lah…). Tapi yang bikin saya suka adalah suara khas Ipank yang serak-serak itu. Juga musiknya yang ‘Ipank banget’. Melodinya juga enak di kuping. Score-nya rada mendayu-dayu, tapi saya suka, secara saya juga penikmat musik-musik instrumentalia macam Kitaro, Secret Garden dll. Menurut saya pribadi, album ini ‘worth’ banget lah. Meski saya memiliki mp3-nya, saya tetap ingin membeli cd albumnya (original donk booo). Selain buat koleksi, juga buat menghargai Ipank dan Ridho yang telah susah payah membuatnya.

Buat tambahan, saya post juga semua liriknya di sini (gila booo, seharian iseng ngedengerin sambil noles liriknya). Lumayanlah buat karaokean he he he…
